Its a flag thats been rendered over the top of some footage captured in LOTRO.

So, basically, a cloth simulation, with a texture on the model ( a grey colour, with the Dark Destiny lettering ), rendered out with a LOTRO cap video as its background.

Some slightly dodgy hand manipulation of object tracking so that the flag seems to come into focus as the background pans, and voila :-)

If you have patience, a knack, time and money to afford them you can get something like 3ds Max or Maya. Alternatively something like Blender is free, and also does cloth simulations. Whilst, in my opinion, 3d art packages can take years to master, doing something like a simple flag cloth simulation is very easy stuff, and you can pick up web tutorials on how to do em, and complete them in an hour or so I would say :-)

Nope, never used to - this was before they changed the way Helchgam works - I dont think you can do it that way now, some of the tentacles only appear once the last pillar has fallen I think. Dunno, its been a while since I did it !

Personally, I prefer running down the pillars and possibly getting pulled under, much more exciting ;-)
