Technique called "bait & switch". 1 bloke casts a hookless popper, the fly is already in water or ready to cast.
The idea is that casting poppers on fly for big GTs requires heavy rod: rods of 12 to 16 are heavy to cast vs a spinning rod and you have to cast a lot for GTs on fly, even on sight. Cheers

I am new to fly world, but pretty sure that the GTs will hit a fly. Why need a guy to toss a popper and do all the work to lure the fish? Just asking?
