Anyone can be affected in their lifetime

The average age always seems to come out at between 37 and 41.

Individuals at increased risk:

Pregnant women especially during the Third Trimester.
Diabetics
Those with recent episodes of flu or respiratory infection
Those with a family history of the condition

Certain types of surgery around the facial nerve area carry a risk of damage t the facial nerve and thus result in Bell's Palsy

There is a slightly higher incidence of the condition during the winter.

The average space of time between recurrences is about 10 years.

Bilateral Bell's Palsy occurs in less than 1% of cases

    2 weeks is amazing !!! You are only the second person I have heard about it happening that quickly. I am sorry to hear about the other side though. I have had it nearly 5 years (March 2006) and would say that one side is 99.9% healed (I still see the odd imporvement - we obviously forget how good looking we were - LOL) and the other side I would say is 65% healed.

    I definitely still believe we are both healing. Never give up hoping or praying bout it.

  • very informative thankyou!! I had also bilateral bp only one side got better in 2 weeks the other side still workin on it (2 years) but seems very slowly still changing for the better..How long yours last it???
