I finally got my Blackmagic Intensity Pro working, and despite me having an underpowered computer (only 2 GB of RAM on Vista, no quad core, and an average video card), I was able to record these 30 seconds in HD.

The quality was great, but being an underpowered computer and all, there were obviously sync issues. I recorded at 59.94fps, but that just made the video play twice as fast. It looked okay slowing down to 29.97fps.

  • Just a heads up - the Intensity Pro has now been lowered in cost from $349 to $199... ARGH!!!

    ...I mean, "hooray..."

  • Hehe... I wonder if I could get one...

Is it possible to buy it in stores? (Like Best Buy, etc.), and can it do some passthrough from PS3 to PC to TV, or at least display the image on the PC screen some way?

Also is there input lag when you play? (Very important point for me)

    Thanks. ;)

  • Not sure if you can get it in stores (I got mine on eBay)

Yeah, you can passthrough to your TV with component or HDMI.

And you kinda have to if you want to play while recording; viewing through the current version of the included capture program, the frame rate is lowered and there's no sound when you record for some reason.

No lag from what I've noticed. I recently recorded a nice Zone Zeus attempt (still only at 29.97 fps). If you can download from MegaUpload, enter this URL:

  • What's the song? Awesome quality - that's one bloody expensive capture card!

  • When I looked online to find out just what the heck "JayTech" was, I found some nice music podcasts. This track is from JayTech podcast 003. I'm not exactly sure which track it is; you'll have to open it in iTunes and check the Lyrics tab. (it plays at the 16-minute mark)

And yeah, this capture card was a little pricey, but I considered this capture card to be an investment. TV and movie copyrights aren't just going to violate themselves, you know!

  • LMAO I was about to start hollering, "Sin! Mortal sin!!" if you had sold MGS3 or something.

  • Mushihimesama (original release, not "Taito Best") and Ibara.

I was never going to get past those 4th stages anyway...

  • Just wondering... which two PS2 games did you sell?

  • I sold two of my favorite PS2 games to help cover the cost (I got $130 for them), and I still thought I was saving money with this card!

I thought I could use it to record PSP-2000 gameplay via component, but then I found out this card doesn't take 480p. To do that, I'll need to spend another $350 for a scaler, which will be years from now - and only after all the other PC upgrades!

In the end I think it's worth it because I like archiving TV shows too, and s-video just won't cut it anymore.

  • Damn man that card is sick (I looked it up) but so expensive :o

My alternative is the video camera on a tripod :P (And I needed another camera anyways)

You are lucky you were able to get one.
