Heralded as "one of the finest contemporary African novelists" by Salman Rushdie, Nuruddin Farah is a contender for the Nobel Prize in literature for his beautiful and moving stories dealing with women's liberation and government corruption in his native Somalia. Much of his work has been influenced by the events that have shaped his country. He is also the winner of the prestigious Neustadt International Prize for Literature.
