a homebuilt 6-dof puma-typed RRRRRR robot controlled by emc2. using emc2, and implementing special kinematics, it can move in joint space (independent motors: 012345), or in coordinated world space (carthesian coordinates: XYZABC).

  • How do you write the gcode for a robotic arm, or does EMC have a training facility?

  • well.. it works with g-code, but there's a small program which is used for teach-in. Basicly you jog the robot around (in carthesian space or in joint space), then you hit a button, and the current position is stored in a file. Afterwards that file is manually hacked into a working g-code file. (I know this can suffer majour improvements.. it's just a proof of concept at the moment).
