The Andantino from Pièces de Fantaisie, recorded in 1929, in one of the first projects of the eletronic sound era. The EMI/Pathé engineers had the entire between-the-wars Parisian music scene to record with this great new invention, & they chose the Master in the tribune at Notre Dame. It's an unfortunate commentary on how much the musical world has changed in 80 years.

  • There are some background crackles which spoil things a bit and could be removed with the right software. If they weren't there, the quality of the recording would be excellent.

  • Incredible to be able to watch and listen to this great organist and composer play his own STUFF.

  • It is both anxious and beautiful and we hear his soul entirely. JW
