Or we could eliminate this trite argument completely by acknowledging that there is no scientific proof of deity. And that religion is man's own attempt at ordering and aggrandizing himself in the universe.

I'm sorry, friend, but you make that statement, and you accuse me of being trite?!

As a Phd student I have done exhaustive research in Christology. And I to don't have the time to look at every view. In Col. 3:18 The Apostle Paul says, He [Jesus] is also head of the body, the church. I know the Roman Catholic position on the head of the church is the pope. But the Scriptures do not support that RCC doctrine. The key issue in our debate is hermeneutics (your method of interpreting the Scriptures) I try to consistently interpret from a literal historical, and grammatical POV

The Catholic Church emphatically does not hold that the Pope is the head of the Church! Christ is the Head of his mystical body. The Pope is Christ's Vicar or representative on earth.

Isn't the viral video's title misleading? He says he loves Jesus, and but in the same breathe speaks of hate toward the church.

the ways that many people debate religions like this are so far off from my ways of thinking that the very idea of debating with them at all just seems silly. like my thing with "this kind of thing", is what makes this guy, and priests and the like, feel right about speaking for someone that *supposedly* lived so long ago, according to the texts of people that also lived and died long ago enough that those speaking about them today never met or spoke with them personally?

Actually, its exactly what you said. Here is a copy and paste of your statement made approximately 3 weeks ago in reply to a Nancy jane - "Popes aren't followed by signs nor do they lay hands on the sick..."

Let me post it again - "...nor do they lay hands on the sick..."

So tell me, is it my reading comprehension that has problems, or is it your memory that has problems?

I never said that the pope does not lay hands on the sick, as you just falsely stated; I said that it has no correlation to anyone being healed. Are you actually trying to tell me that you are incapable of comprehending clear, concise English? That you actually could not correctly read the comment to which you are replying? A child could correctly read the comment. You must be an imbecile.

While I would certainly argue that you are wrong, that is irrelevant. You said that the pope does not lay hands on people. This is patently false. All I was doing was pointing that out - that your objection that he does not lay on hands is a false objection.

Uh...I'm not taking anything out of context. You are completely missing my point. Go back in the posts. An earlier poster said he was shocked when Fr. Barron condemned justification by faith alone. I merely pointed out that Fr. Barron's words were a scripture quote, and that if the poster takes issue with it, he takes issue with the words of the bible. I was not trying to argue anything regarding the usefulness or necessity of works.

You are taking a phrase out of context. What that refers to is a Christian is motivated to do works because they are a Christian; it does not mean that works have any correlation to salvation, because they do not. They could not. How many works would be sufficient? If someone has greater longevity than someone else, and, consequently, more time to do more works, would that be relevant because of the happenstance of their longevity? Of course not. Same applies to an enfant, who has done no works.

Unfortunately, any pope laying hands on the sick has no correlation to anyone being healed; it simply means that any pope lays hands on the sick.

. Even though what he says relates to one verse he is completely avoiding the context from witch it came and a multitude of many others. Examples: Romans ch6 ch7 and ch8. Ephesians ch2. The hole book of John. These are a major few but there are muliple others..
