Yo,

let the Youtube-Spam begin :) Yet another video here for you guys. More improvisation and a little more shredding this time around. I got inspired by one of my idols, Guthrie Govan, to have a go at this beautiful backing from Bluesjamtracks.com. Please keep in mind that I'm not 1/10 the guitarist that Guthrie is, this is just my humble tribute to him.

Two side notes:

1) I cut the string ends off after you guys flooded my email account :)
2) I look so pissed off because it was the hottest day in the year here and I improvised around 10 solos before this that were complete garbage. When I did this take I hated it, then watching back it wasn't half bad. That's life :)

Comments and critizism are HIGHLY appreciated. Thanks to everyone who has given me feedback on my last video, it's a huge motivation for me! You guys rock!

  • i was wondering where you learn that chromatic like jazz lick starting at 0:34 those runs they use in jazz fusion guitar, do you know a good book that would help me develop and learn how to use these licks i recently moved away from metal and iam really really into jazz fusion it also sounds like a lick that is commonly used can you lead me in the right direction perhaps tell me which books you can learn it from ?

  • I always watch this twice. The phrasing is impossibly good.

  • @SixStringSamuri666 I'm curious about what you found. The 2 best sources for me of interesting and unusual melodic ideas are picking random pages from Slonimski's Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns, and making up my own tone rows (12 tone system=use all 12 notes before repeating a note except if it's a consecutive repetition). Then sometimes I take pieces of tone rows, and mix with other ideas. Or Youtube: search "remicellule", Marshall Harrison, etc.

  • 0:34 not a good look for you mate.

  • wow!! coole improv, und deine technischen fähigkeiten sind eh der Hammer!

  • very impressive. You have a great grasp of a wide range of techniques.

  • Man, that is smokin' hot! Nice job!

  • Man, you nailed a great solo. No need to mention Guthrie, a few passages similar, but was all you. Nice job.
