Keep up the good work cubing, and if you wish to get lots faster, there are various methods you can learn throughout the web. Such methods include the fridrich method, the keyhole method (DaKrazedKyubizt mentioned this), the petrus method, and quite a few more. Good luck!

a better method... when doing the 1st layer, put in all but one corner, then use that corner to put in three 2nd layer edges. this will enable to use minimal moves to complete the 2nd layer. after you're done with that, finish up the 1st layer using the 2nd layer slot as a path, then fill in the last 2nd layer slot with the usual algorithm. then go on and do the 3rd layer. i'd also suggest learning beginner OLL and PLL instead of doing permutation then orientation like in those guides.
