The song reflects who he is and where he is from.

It also shows beneath the exterior of a battle-hardened warrior, is an innocent child who has suffered so much. Nonetheless, he knows what he must do.

Kyle Reese's chracters, from T1 (I dont care much for the chronicles) is one of the finest chracters in science fiction. Really, put yourself in his position and try to think what he is, he knows he can't go back, hes trapped and knows he is going to die. just such a gritty and determined fighter, remarkable really, we rarely are graced such good characters in modern sci-fi.

I also love the relationship between him and Sarah. He's in love with her, as her face in the photo is the most comforting thing in the world and know he not only gets to met her, but has to fight to protect her from something that is designed in every way to kill humans.

What's great about the first movie is Kyle is just a man, he's not a terminator, he just a single soldier, with out-of-date weaponry and tech going up against the most efficent killer, that's years advanced of the time he's in
