  • can you go to this tournament as a independent competitor or only as a school/team/club?

  • @swarrior80 This tournament is open to all styles and schools. There is a division for almost anything you might want to compete in.

  • @karatevideoguy is they info up about the 2011 competition yet?

  • @swarrior80 It is coming. They are finishing up the website this weekend. Looking for a launch on Monday the 14th or Tuesday. I will put the new promo up on the same day the website launches. The tournament this year is July 1 -2, 2011 at Disney World in Orlando Florida.

  • @swarrior80 It doesn't really matter, you can come independent or with your team; but as long as you come from a background of Martial Artists you can pretty much get in.

  • I went to this tournament.. There were over 20 ppl in my division and I got 4th place in forms.. and 2nd place in fighting..

  • @karatevideoguy

I've been to many similar tournaments. Nothing says non-Karate and anti-TKD than people just doing a bunch of flips with rainbow/holographic nunchaku.

  • @Da1RiSiN1sMoKe There are all kinds of Martial Artists who compete at an Open tournament. There are divisions for the flashy stuff and for the traditional. Have you ever been to this tournament? If not do not judge it until you have been trhere!

  • @lordhriley

I do agree. I'm amazed that the kids find their self-confidence in martial arts, but I would be ashamed to call this Karate.

Miyagi, Shimabuku, Funakoshi, Oyama (I call the founding fathers of Karate) would be disappointed with today's Karate just like Thomas Jefferson and John Hancock would be disappointed with our government.

  • This is difficult to judge. I do not want to call it crap because I know the kids put a lot of hard work in...but, is fun the point?
