This was on my son's spring break, going on the ferry leaving the Texas Battleship and San Jacinto Monument......I had done it as a child before moving from TX to CA

  • This ferry was vital to the success of the Battle of San Jacinto, which determined the Independence of Texas from the rule of brutal Dictator, Santa Anna. Every child in Texas should be shown this ferry and the Battlefield with it's Monument: the tallest monument in the US to a war (taller than Washington Monument by 15 feet). The short 35 minute movie of the fight for Texas Independence, shown at the Monument, is a must-see to the understanding of the situation before the war for independence.

  • The building in the distance is where the whole operation is ran from and about 20 years ago, a barge explosion blew the windows in. If the Superintendent (Jack Shipp) would of been in his office, it would have killed him.
