One moment it was quiet. And then the Brown-headed Cowbirds invaded. These birds are members of the Blackbird family. They are known as "parasitic" birds, meaning that they lay their eggs in other birds nests, leaving the other birds to raise their young. Brown-headed Cowbirds lay their eggs in the nests of approximately 200 other birds' nests. They are the only true "parasitic" bird found in the state of Washington.
