Lightmass is not an element of Unreal Tournament 3 as you mentioned in the description.
Video shows UDK, not UT3
but it looks so beautiful :o
-
This is not the same UE3 as UT3.
It's an improved version of it.
UT3 doesn't use Lightmass at all.

lightmass is static-light mapping, realtime lighting systems are more dynamically...
so: Unreal Lightmass = no future

UEd II is the editor for UE 1.5 games, and U-Ed 1 is the editor for UE1 games
-
UE3 stands for Unreal Engine 3, not Unreal Editor 3. UEd 3 is the editor for UE2 games.

2 questions:
1. download link please?
2. does rypelcam work with UDK?
-
@epop814 lightmass is a light calculation tool in the UDK. It more accurately calculates light by using real light physics to simulate things like bouncelight, reflection and scattering. Once the process has run it stores the info into lightmaps, just like UT3. There are however some improved lights in the UDK which were not in the UT3 before. But it should be possible to transfer the lightmaps to UT3 if someone would want to.

Lightmass looks great. I wish they'd find a way of patching it into UT3 somehow. Probably too much work, so fat chance of that. Regular UT3 has too much bloom and DOF, it's really distracting.

The necropolis in this video looks way more detailed and better than the one in UT3.

Lightmass is a raytracing engine that comes with the Unreal Developer Kit. Its not an element of the engine as much as it is a tool that allows the engine to more realisticly bake lightmaps.
For example, before a mapper would have to add additional lights to simulate bouncelight. With Lightmass, these calculations are done by the engine much more efficiently.

music is horrid!

@AcP2142 UT3 uses old version of the engine without lightmass and many other features ..
