My First Digital Speed Painting: Part 1 (Spyro)

This is my try at digital painting. I decided to just copy a well known character. I searched through Youtube for inspiration and the characters of Spyro caught my eye. The drawing developed into a highly detailed drawing. I discovered that my skills of photo manipulating in Photoshop and my skills in drawing on real paper matched up perfectly for digital painting. So comment on what you think.

I'm also going to continue this drawing with Cynder in part two. I feel that these two characters complement each other very well. Plus, I will draw a unique background. (not copied from the poster). These will arrive in Spring because I now want to focus on my Snowboard videos (Its currently Winter). I also need to finish my Graphite drawing I postponed for nearly a year!

On a side note, I never played a single game of Spryo. But since I took 14 hours drawing this character I've now drawn an interest in playing the TLOS series.

How did you kinda manipulate the scales to look like 3D? :D

@SpyroAndMrKatFan It wasn't easy, I made a layer with the texture. I rasterized the layer so the texture is permanent. I then selected everything but the texture lines and deleted the white space. Then I warped the lines to curve around the body. And finally added a style effect to create depth. Nowadays I do the easier method of doing it all by hand ^^;

@Purpledragon195 Um, 99% of computers don't come with Photoshop. Its a separate piece of software that you have to purchase. Search Amazon
