Many Americans unemployed and forgotten

As the unemployment rate continues to climb and more Americans are left out in the cold this holiday season, unemployment benefits are becoming scarce. The unemployment statistics have left many people out of the equation all together, what can an American do? George Hemminger says Congress is out of touch with average Americans and people should go into their communities to start thinking more locally.

When the company I worked for laid off all of it's employees a couple of years ago, they purposely bounced all of our severance checks, cancelled our medical insurance 30 days earlier than they were supposed to, and then declared bankruptcy against all of their creditors and former employees.

I lost EVERYTHING because I couldn't get a job in time to continuously pay my rent and bills.

What's really fucked up is that our CEO and other board members walked away with over $50 million each.
