Jeremy De Jesus
Flutist/Composer/Arranger

Jeremy De Jesus was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on March 18, 1990. On his childhood years, he had already developed an ear to sing at church and had adapted the musical taste of the elders around him, who had records of Earth Wind and Fire, Miles Davis, Stevie Wonder, John Coltrane, A.C. Jobim, etc. Began playing the Flute at age 9 and at the age of 15, he received a Full Scholarship to attend the Berklee Five Week Summer Performance program. The same happened at age 16 and in the summer of 2007, Jeremy was selected for the prestigious Berklee Jazz Workshop directed by Terri Lyne Carrington and Rick DiMuzio. During the last week of his participation in this institute, Jeremy De Jesus received a full scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music. Before moving to Boston at the of 18, De Jesus decided to musically produce his own concert with his own music as well as the music of many of the great Jazz composers. With the collaboration of more than 40 musicians (including trumpeter and Grammy Award Nominee, Charlie Sepulveda), Jeremy's concert took place in August 16 of 2008 in the concert hall of the Universidad de Puerto Rico. He is now in his sixth semester at Berklee majoring in Jazz Composition and has been recording, performing, composing and arranging in many different music scenes including Jazz, Afro-Caribbean Music, Salsa, Neo Soul, R&B, Hip-Hop, Fusion, etc, inside and outside of the Berklee community. The young Puerto Rican native has performed professionally with artists and legends such as Chucho Valdéz, Larry Harlow, Giovanni Hidalgo, Terri Lyne Carrington, Victor Mendoza, Eguie Castrillo, Manolo Mairena, Jerry Rivera, Lalo Rodriguez, Charlie Sepulveda, Meshell N'degeocello, Tony Perez, Rick De La Ratta, Horacio "El Negro" Hernandez, Humberto Ramirez among others.

Currently 21 years old, Jeremy De Jesus has now released his debut album as a bandleader and composer entitled "Semi Formal", which consists mainly of a variety of his latest compositions. De Jesus' quintet is formed by five of the most talented musicians around the East Coast of the US: Chad Selph (piano), Charles Burchell (drums), Andrew Burglass (guitar) and Zwelakhe Duma (bass).
