When puffers are very young they are in fresh water. Later, as they growth they transition to Brac water (partial salt about 1/3 of seawater) Green Spotted females can be over 3 inches nose to tip of tail. The BIGGER the aquarium the BETTER. Best not use small tanks. Go to " thekrib dot com" to learn Water Chemistry. Water must be "cycled" and best to make your own water via Reverse Osmosis and brewing in separate container first. will figure 8's die in freshwater? and how big do ur green spotteds get? also can i put figure 8s in a 20g aquarium? (if so how many) please reply.
i was in a pet store and stuck my finger in a cichlidtank to let em nibble on it and a figure 8 came out of nowere and bit me so hard i got stunned :P
