The TARDIS materialises in London sometime after the year 2164. Dalek invaders are now ruling the Earth with the aid of humans converted into zombie-like Robomen, but they are opposed by a group of resistance fighters led by the wheelchair-using Dortmun. The travellers discover that the Daleks have established a huge mine in Bedfordshire, their aim being to remove the Earth's core using a huge bomb and replace it with a powerful drive system so that they can pilot the planet around the galaxy. Ian manages to create a barrier in the shaft in order to intercept the bomb. The resulting explosion destroys the Daleks and their mine and creates a huge volcanic eruption. Susan has fallen in love with resistance fighter David Campbell, and the Doctor decides to leave her on Earth to find a new life with him, while he continues on his travels with Ian and Barbara.

  • Whats with the big disk's on the daleks back?

  • @GTAIVFan17

Well on the first dalek story, the daleks lived in a city, and were powered by static electricity, by the floor, the daleks could never leave the city because of it, so the disk's are like solar panals so the daleks can be powered no matter were they are.

  • I almost thought he was gonna say "Resistance is futile" XD I watch too much Star Trek... Well, I've definetely given up on it since the latest Movie, but hey, there's other shows, like, for example, this one. I wonder how it could last that long and still get cooler and cooler with each new episode... Most Shows become rubbish if continued long enough, but not DW... and if the trailer for Series 5 is any indication, it's gonna become even cooler!

  • Why is that I every time I watch a Doctor Who opening I feel like I'm about to embark on a drug trip? XD DW is awesome.

  • @LegoDaleks Ok you just scored points. Jeremy Brett is the best Sherlock Holmes ever. x) kthanx

  • @GenvieveWoolf I'm just saying there are more important things on the dr.'s mind then being in love with teenagers. I know mature humans cry, but the Dr. is more rational than any human. Like Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes, that's who the Dr. should be like, not Harry Potter.

  • @LegoDaleks You have trouble getting dates, don't you? xD jk. I can see from your apples to oranges that we're not going to agree so I'll just quit while I'm... not even entered in the race. I just want to say, I don't think that crying or affection is any kind of indication that a person is not wise or mature.

  • @GenvieveWoolf A 900 y.o. timelord is too advanced for a 19 y.o. human. Let me put it in perspective: Imagine you, the age that you are now. If you started hanging out with babies from ages 0-2, and you really liked them, would you really after a while start messing your pants and crying for no reason? Romantic love, sex and crying are primitive and the Dr. is an endlessly wise person. e.g. Romance is not as important to an educated intelligent woman, than an uneducated/lessintelligent woman.

  • @LegoDaleks The Doctor *should* be actingmore human as he goes because he's spending more time with them. #1 was cold toward humans at first, but by the time he regenerated he was very fond of them. #2 started off merely interested, but by the end he was extremely attached to them. It's a nice progression, I think. The Doctor may not be human, but it's important for him to act very human so the audience can relate. It's easy to see this approach throughout the series.

  • @GenvieveWoolf If Ur 100s of years old, it certainly is immature to cry, but nu-drs act like teens. They also act too human, by crying over things that we would cry over. Real HUMANS cry, the Dr is not human. Its untrue 2 the character. Whoa, 9&10s performances were so not believable!. They always had to shout: "I am the Dr!" over&over, like they were trying to convince themselves. Tennant even says in an interview that he never felt he'd B worthy to play the Dr. until Eccleston lowered the bar.

  • @LegoDaleks hater

  • @LegoDaleks I agree the effects and that are awsome but you gotta admit a swimming Dalek is random. (though probably what the Daleks want us to belive) lol

  • @LegoDaleks Okay I didn't take offense until now: It is NOT immature to cry. Real men cry. I find tears to be a sign of a mature actor, someone who has good control over his physiology--it's quite impressive. And... 2 and 3 are SO over the top. But maybe we have different definitions. To me it means "unbelievable." I always believed 9 and usually believed 10. But I almost never believe 11. I'm sitting there going, "he's a guy in a suit pretending to be the Doctor." 2 &3 weren't believable either
