Video segment of the Wed. May 14th 2008 Chicago City Council Meeting, which repealed the Foie-Gras Ban.
Four minutes is how long it took the city council to raise and repeal Chicago's April 2006 foie-gras ban.
Mayor Daley calls Alderman Joe "Foie Gras" Moore.
Mayor Daley once called it the silliest ordinance ever passed by the city council, and calls Alderman Joe "Foie Gras" Moore.

@savvysearch totally agree but that wasn't the point of the ban. It was an issue of animal welfare (force feeding poultry). I'm looking everywhere for it but I can't find one article that even mentions animal welfare in the Chicago repeal... are people just not informed about the whole controversy of force feeding or is it irrelevant to the issue of freedom to eat what you want?

Chicago IS progressive. That's why they voted for individual choice rather than a law that dictates how what people can eat and how people should live.

So sad. I thought Chicago would be more progressive than this

@rgvcstupid I think foie gras is a nuanced, and defensible issue- but having 'stupid' in your name doesn't help in youtube debates.

@morganwalker Switzerland has the highest life expectancy in Europe--and, Foie Gras production is illegal in this country.

Two words for everyone who thinks that we need more laws in this country.
FUCK YOU

Suck it you vegan bastards. Let a free nation decide for themselves whether to eat foie gras. I eat it and love it!
