To tjmerns: Are you kidding me??? How does therac have anything to do w/ ADLs???? The activities are used to simulate FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT ie dressing, balance, coordination. It's kind of the basic idea of OT.If youre such an expert why am I having to explain something so BASIC? Now, I'll give you the video is a little rough around the edges as it was made by students who hadn't been out in the field yet....but have you??? What OT clinic doesn't use these tools? Where's the hate coming from???
This is by far the worst example of what OT practice is. How do pegs, thera putty, ring tree, exercise balls, and a thera arc have anything to do with occupation? Or improving a client's ability to return to greater independence in ADLs or IADLs? Good OT practice considers the client's narrative and a thorough understanding of what "occupations" they want and need to return to doing while working on those activities, not the "things" this video portrays. This is video of "What OT is NOT"
