Paul Maynard MP for Blackpool North & Cleveleys questions the minister for housing, Grant Schapps on homelessness.

After posing his original question on what steps the government is taking to improve coordination of government policy on homelessness he was met with the Speaker announcing that the minister was not yet at the Dispatch Box.

Grant went on to say it's important there's an honest street count as the last count said only 468 people were sleeping rough in the whole of the country. He realises that is nonsense.

Paul then thanks the minister for making it to the dispatch box, asking as part of Grant's collaborative efforts in government, which departments will he target to help deal with homelessness and rough sleeping.

Paul speaks of the fine record of inter-agency working to try and tackle homelessness in Blackpool, giving mention in particular to the partnership work of Blackpool Council and NHS Blackpool.

Rough sleeping is something which unfortunately affects seaside towns such as Blackpool and Cleveleys. Towns which are seen as a get-away and so addressing both why people become homeless and how to get them back on track with a more stable life is of great importance to Paul.
