Soft Landing is a social business run by Mission Australia, that recycles and refurbishes discarded mattresses.

Soft Landing uses recycling to work towards environmental sustainability, while improving access to sustainable employment and education pathways for people in Wollongong.

Did you know?
- Australia sends 1.25 million mattresses to landfill each year.
- Mattresses are the most common items put out on the curb side for council collections and almost all go to landfill.
- The average mattress in a landfill takes up to 0.75 cubic meters of space and contains 12.5kg of steel, 2kg of wood and 1.5kg of foam.
- Over three years Soft Landing will divert 78,260 mattresses from going to landfill; this equates to 54,782 cubic meters or 2,739 semi trailer loads
