Episcopal priest, the Rev. Matthew Moretz, tries to counter the damage done by the rhetoric of Pat Robertson in the wake of the January 2010 Haiti earthquake, insisting that demonization is not a Christian practice. "Father Matthew Presents" is a regular video series that presents the treasures of Christianity one video at a time. www.fathermatthewpresents.com

A trustworthy avenue for Haitian relief is "Episcopal Relief and Development" www.er-d.org

Father Matthew is a priest at Christ's Church in Rye, New York.

To support this ministry, the new DVD "Father Matthew Presents: Volume Two" is available for purchase here:

  • Female priests!?!?!?!?!?!? Invalid! The Church Fathers will never go for it.

  • @joeraybray I bet the Church Mothers will, though. This church Father goes for it.

  • Pat Robinson is either brilliant and knows some people will believe anything they are told, or, hes completely insane.

ALl of us, regardless of belief, should adopt a mindset to marginalize this idiot (Robertson). He only gets richer spewing crap like that.

  • @sashajw1234 A brilliant media strategist at the very least! In his creation of CBN and the Family Channel and then its sale, he negotiated that the 700 Club must be shown as long as the network exists! He forced Disney/ABC the present owners, to give him a pulpit! That is savvy.

  • I'm glad to see that christians are reacting to Pat Robertsons idiotic and offensive comments, thank you!

  • What Pat Robinson did was similar to blaming a rape victim because she was wearing makeup. He not only hurt the Haitians but the many kind hearted Christians that exist. I've chosen to give my money to a Secular Charity but I wish you well in your efforts.

  • Pat Robertson needs to have all the skin rubbed off him with a steel wool scrub pad and then be thrown in a pile of powdered salt.

  • So sad to hear this man misquote what Pat Robertson said (who by the way would never call himself "Father" since Jesus taught "Do not call anyone on earth"Father" for you have one Father and He is in heaven" -Matt. 23:9)

The Haitians know about the curse and that the time put on it is long over-that they are no longer under that curse. This man must also not believe much about Jesus because part of the real Jesus' ministry was in casting out real demons out of people. (Matt. 8:28-34)

Thank you Father Matthew!

  • I agree, its not fair to demonize all of that haitian people because of something that happend a long time ago. I mean look at rome before when they where killing christians left and right, and look at them now!

About 96% of the Haitian people are christian, 80% Roman Catholic and 16% Protestant. I doubt that god is going to curse the whole of haiti because of the 4% of people that aren't christian in Haiti!

  • Great video, Father. Come to Rochester on April 29 2010 and hear Bp Gene Robinson preach at Evensong. Love to have you here!

  • cause pat didn't send any money to this guy or his church, he's distancing himself.

if anyone ever believes this is anything other than money and power, they are as loony as the monkey in this video.

  • So really, what are you saying about Pat Robertson, I am not clear. Are you simply distant your self from him or calling him a liar, a delusional lunatic, misinformed christian, a clown, or scam artist. Who do you think he really is? Do you think people should still financially support his ministry?

  • I couldn't have said it better myself. Excellent job! TV preachers are giving Jesus a bad name.

  • Great video, don't want to detract from that.

The real question should be what Scripture, the Word of God, has to say in regard to the ordination of women. St. John 10:35.

  • Excellent job. Poor Jehosaphat. The devil IS scary! And so is Mr. Robertson.
