  • It was a year ago today that my father passed. The finest thing I've done was to care for him those last years. We miss him an awful lot, but clips like this do so much to bring him back to the here and now. Thanks so much for posting it and for helping to keep his extraordinary music in the air.

  • I've played rock professionally for 40 years... never really got into jazz. But when I watch Ellis and Kessel and Reinhart I want to get my jazz chops working! I wonder if I'll ever get their speed. Sure, it's late to start learing new stuff later in life, but, what the heck. That's the joy of music... learning, playing, grooving. It's never over till the calorie-challenged female belts out a tune.

  • @pashtettRB

Why? Because he's got more talent than you? That's nothing to get sick about. Everybody's got more talent than you.

  • This is JAZZ.

What they call JAZZ today ain't.

  • im the old one

  • This is me and my dad!

  • I can't believe I recognized both tunes the first time hearing this! "It Might As Well Be Spring" and "Things Ain't What They Used To Be"

  • @riaweno I've got to tell you a funny story. When I was like 14-15 in 1975/76 I saw your dad play at the Mountain Winery , Saratoga, CA as part of "The Great Guitars." After, I went up to ask them what they thought of Ted Nugent. They all grinned and were very cordial, but I can't remember what they actually said. I'll never forget it and shortly after started to get into guys like Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, and Pat Metheny.

  • I don't know why this is so low on hits, should be 5 million plus by now. Sweet melody wraps around me. Pure communication.

  • This bassist makes me sick!
