Pu'u 'O'o is a volcanic vent on the East Rift Zone of the Kilauea Volcano on the island of Hawai'i. Pu'u 'O'o and areas within a mile of this vent have been steadily erupting lava since 1983. In this visit, I watched as the lava lake rose over 30 feet (?) during a 12 hour visit.

  • I reckon I could watch the lava forever, which would be good if I wasn't allergic to sulphur.

It's like incredibly hot treacle. Thanks for the vids :)

  • I love how it oozes out from under its skin: there's something so primeval and satisfying about it. Wonderful footage as usual Robert. Thank you!
