Here are two old hymns that were translated into Hawaiian many decades ago, "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace". I'm playing my old 12-string in taropatch G tuning.

  • Maika'i nui! Mahalo!

  • Thanks! Slack key seems made for hymns.

  • lovely guitar work, warm and sweet. you're very kind to share this, thank you!

  • Thank you for the kind words.

  • Came across your videos while looking for Uke tutorials -- I'm a complete ukulele beginner living in NYC. Love Hawaiian music and really enjoy your singing and playing. I've been listening to Iz, Benny Kalama and Keola Beamer for years and wish I could speak the language! Please consider posting more Ukulele songs and lessons!

  • I should add that I am not fluent in the language, but I enjoy singing the songs of my kupuna. Sadly, there are no living native speakers in my Hawaiian family.

  • lived on Big Island for 2.5 years...can't wait to get back. We went to a great Paniolo church, Puuanahulu. Great brothers and sisters in Christ there. Mahalo from Texas!

  • Two old favourites beautifully sung here. Wish I could sing and play an instrument at the same time. It's something I've never been able to do so I stick to singing in the choirs!
