Welcome to our fifth installment of "Ask a Fly-Fishing Instructor," starring our own Peter Kutzer, who works at the Manchester, Vermont, Fly Fishing School. A couple months ago, we asked you to post some questions about your biggest casting problems. Reader Cindi wrote,

Any hints you could give to casting around a large rock would be most appreciated. How can I make that line curve to either the right or left to land in front of a rock? I'd like to cast my line out and have it curve around to the front of a rock. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

In this lesson, Peter offers three different methods for making your cast curve to the right or left. His trick of twisting his wrist at the end of the forward cast will have you running out to the lawn with your fly rod to practice. It looks so simple, and the results are impressive, but you'll fins that some practice to get the timing and twist just right are required. If you've got more questions for Peter, post them below, and we'll address each casting problem in a new video.
