Heavy monsoon rains have caused historic flash flooding and landslides in Pakistan's northwest Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province contributing to the death of at least 1,200 people, washing away the homes and belongings of hundreds of thousands, and forcing at least two million others to flee their homes.
Zakat Foundation has begun to address the immediate needs of flood survivors by providing much needed food and clothing in four key districts: Swabi, Nowshera, Charasadda and Swat Valley, Pakistan. More than 250,000 people have been affected by the flood waters in these areas and are in desperate need of help which has been slow to come from government officials.
Zakat Foundation intends to continue its relief effort in these areas and is preparing makeshift shelters for the victims for the short-term. The level of devastation that has struck northwest Pakistan due to these floods is unprecedented. Dozens of villages and bridges have been washed away. The death toll continues to rise, but the survivors of the flooding are not without hope that insha'Allah their brothers and sisters will come to their aid in this dire time of need.
Zakat Foundation cannot help them without the strong support of its donors. We ask that you to help us provide food, clothing, and shelter to the flood victims in northwest Pakistan for whom all worldly belongings have been washed away.
