Netherlands: Maasbracht: Residence of inland shipping

Maasbracht (part of the municipality Maasgouw) is a small town in the southeastern of the Netherlands, situated at the Juliana canal. It has an area of 26 km ², of which 3.65 km ² water.
By many inland skippers Maasbracht is chosen as so called "home", or address, because a fixed address on the shore is necessary to be accessible for correspondence.
The port of Maasbracht usually offers a lively appearance.

Maasbracht is een kleine stad in het zuid oosten van Nederland, die aan het Juliana kanaal ligt. Het heeft een oppervlakte van 26 km², waarvan 3,65 km² water.
Door veel binnenvaartschippers wordt Maasbracht gekozen als zogenaamde "thuishaven", of domicilie (een postadres), omdat men een vast adres aan wal moet hebben om schriftelijk bereikbaar te zijn.
De haven van Maasbracht biedt meestal een levendige aanblik.

eej, van het weekend was Maasbrachtse havendagen! ;D

ben je niet geweest? zo ja dan had je mooie foto's kunnen maken haven lag bijna vol. met binnenvaartschepe maar ook met oude sleepbootjes enz. leuke video trouwens.

Ja, ik weet dat het afgelopen weekend in Maasbracht de havendagen waren. Ik kon er helaas niet naar toe!

Maasbracht heeft met al zijn binnenvaartschepen een eigen en speciale sfeer, waar ik wel van houd..:-)

Daar ben ik nooit geweest. Ik wil dit jaar wel naar de wereldhaven dagen in Rotterdam.

Thank you Italo! There are always many boats in this harbour and there is also a special school for the children of the skippers. It is a world on its own.
