This is at the annual iron pour put on by the University of Kentucky's sculpture dept. The mold they are pouring (jump to 1:05 for the action) is called a reaction mold, that means it contains elements that are burned away by the iron and causes a spectacular fireworks show. I took my little brother Carson who made a scratch block that the dept sells to the public for $10.00. They pour iron into it and you get to take home an original work of art in iron. Carson was super pumped about the light show. Thanks to the students at UK and the artists from out of town that made this possible!
