A brilliant minute-long clip from Vision On, shown first on 1st December 1972. Tony Hart draws the outline of a Dalek using a football-pitch line-marking machine, and then it 'comes to life'. Dalek spods will recognise these as the 1972 BBC Visual Effects wooden Dalek builds, appearing in their gunmetal 'Planet Of The Daleks' livery (though I think there's a couple of Aaru skirt sections in there as well)
@outofthegreenmist I think the three were the three left over from Day Of The Daleks and the other three were the "goons" (basic models) made for Planet Of The Daleks

Who says Daleks have no Culture? :D

@jacob1029 Yeah, including the one that was rendered visible by the Thals' aerosols, you could see it standing in the background, its eye still covered in paint. Why did they allow the Daleks to become so shabby? And yet, some people love these Daleks.

@damo007revenge There are 6 in this clip, but only 3 appear to move at any on time. Suggesting that there were only 3 operators. Why "Day" didn't make use of toy Daleks, as per "Evil" and "Planet", is strange.

@jacob1029 You only ever see three.

I remember seeing this at the time. "Vision On" was one of my favourite shows (along with, of course, DW) - a programme for deaf children, but which everyone enjoyed.

day of the daleks had 4 working ones and quite a few other wooden primative ones

what I find funny is that there are more daleks here in this 1972 clip than there was in the 1972 dr who story day of the daleks. Shame the beeb didnt use these ones then maybe the battle scene in day of the daleks wouldnt look so bare with only 3! lol
