Another sure fire way to split is to Change the church from the NT pattern. Of course that requires a group that wants to change and a group that holds fast to "that form of doctrine..." Romans 6:17.

Didn't go through a church split, but *I* split over constant harping on tithing and attendance. Miss once and you were "forsaking". Unable to attend one of the 3 services and you were "forsaking". Try to correct a (quite obvious) incorrect application of God's Word and get blown up at. Had enough.
