Nastassja Kinski in Tess, a 1979 romantic drama film directed by Roman Polanski, an adaptation of Thomas Hardy's 1891 novel Tess of the d'Urbervilles. It tells the story of a strong-willed, young (apparently) peasant girl who finds out she has title connections by way of her old aristocratic surname, who is seduced by her wealthy cousin, whose right to the family title may not be as strong as he claims. The screenplay was by Gérard Brach, John Brownjohn, and Roman Polanski.

  • I find this movie so incredibiy moving. Of course the incredible beauty Natassia Kinski in her first movie. I think her acting is superb. I think barely 17 years old. Roman Polanski is undeniably a superb directer. And the music is really beautiful. Great cinematography. The strawbeery scene still I think the all time most sensuous ever captured on film. Well my two cents.

  • Very sad and very touching. My favorite movie because of the life lessons. We further victimize the victims in our society. Also, she has unspeakable beauty. The scenes, dialogue, actors, music, background are irreplaceable. The other versions don't even come close.

  • she is delicious

  • Grandioso capolavoro del cinema mondiale!

  • @sorayaforever It's a replica of the Stonehenge. Has anybody else repaired on the fly in the final scene, when Tess is getting up? Do you know if it willful or has any meaning?

  • what is the name of thestones in whixch she is sleeping?

  • Was this scene in the book? Umm, I doubt they did have sex according to the original text. Still, I like this scene because of how powerful Angel's grief and remorse is. And no words, just a simple knelt on knee and weeping as Tess forgives him.

  • Nastassja is a rare beauty, kind that you see once every decade. bergman, grace kelly, audrey hepburn, brooke shields are all in this category. most of today's actresses are made up, done up, full of plastic surgery yet most of them look like they just crawled out of the garbage can.

  • where's the rest!!!! :(. thanks for posting this though.

  • I don't know how anyone could possibly say that the other versions of this film are superior to this one. This is just so classic.
