This is the famous July 3, 2004 tornado warning that was issued for Montgomery and Greene counties; including the cities of Dayton and Xenia... Note the "7" logo (WHIO studios) right under the hook.

Steve and Jamie always said to me that the most important thing is to stay in front of that green wall until that tower right outside the station is gone.

The sister video is the WHIO Promo also on my video list.

I lost all power right when the coverage started but I was out at the fireworks display and had no clue I lost the tape.

  • was there a tornado?

  • No tornado but there were reports of funnel clouds a few miles east of Kettering and there were even reports of a couple funnel clouds with the main line in Northwest Greene county.

I was outside for the local fireworks show when the main line came in... I like severe weather but I never want to see 5,000 people running like crazy for their cars at the park I was at.

  • how do you know Steve and Jamie? do you work for WHIO?

  • They were nice enough to let me come in for a meet and greet... Spend an entire day at the station. It really does give a real feel on how a news department really works. They are die hard for what they do.

  • I don't see the 7 logo anywhere...

  • Right over Kettering

  • I like how the EAS Voice says: "Yellow Springs" at 00:50. He sounds so scary and menacing.

  • I think this voice used in the EAS from 0:17 to 1:16 sounds a lot more serious than the one used regularly on some of your other videos.

  • lol ....and YELLOW Springs.

  • Hey, Friter04...

here's something interesting i found out...

Since 1950 Greene County, Ohio has been by 14 Tornadoes and only 2 of those twisters were viloent (F-5 in 1974 & F-4 in 2000)...but in places like Suffolrk County, NY (N.Y.C. suburb)...20 Tornadoes have hit, but none of them went viloent.

So i would think that Tornadoes in Ohio and New York are about the same except that Viloent Tornadoes are more rare in New York than in Ohio correct?

  • And in the beginning it sounded like, Wilmingtongue. ROFL

  • The word that sounded like "classic" is actually "closet".

  • yeah i have always thought that they were the best.. i used to know someone who worked in the WHIO building but they worked for 1290. about a year ago i visited the WDTN building, it is basically an old industrial building with a news studio in it. i guess i thought it would have been nicer. i have never been in the WHIO building, hopefully i will get the opportunity to go sometime
