  • hey why is the photographer in the band and not taking the photos!?

  • I think this is generally spot on, but only up to the point he talks about 'the standard 40 photos', which is a throw-back to the days of shooting on film for a traditional album. Most brides nowadays appreciate a less formulaic approach, and more of a reportage style. What they don't want is the standard set their mother had. That's not to say that each photographer can't have his/her own structure or formula, but it needs to be different if they're stand out & be successful

  • I'm a church minister and this guy is bang on! Almost all of my experiences with wedding photographers have been good because I always have a chat to find out what they want to do - knowing they've got to please the couple - and what the limitations are. Mr Barry, if it's any consolation we have several months of wrestling with family expectations, too, and why they can't nail flower arrangements into the church furniture! Hats off to the professionals!

  • Glad to hear this rant. At least now I know what I should do to help my photographer to do. Good job during my wedding

  • One of the best youtube rants I've heard in years. I agree whole-heartedly. This is why I prefer taking pictures of big hairy spiders and slimy green frogs.

  • Digital has become the deathnail of Wedding Photography, many of the public believe that because they have a high res camera that they are instantly photographers. A major gripe is photographers shooting straight to CD. I urge all serious wedding photographers to sell Albums to their clients, keep copyright and thus gain back some control. Wedding Photography is a challenge, but it can be enormously gratifying.

  • He lives in the realworld; not the commented crap listed below. Speaks from experiance
