heart attack

I'm still alive, I swear! Apologies for yet another delay. I'll be the first to admit, this isn't my greatest piece, but I hope you like it all the same.

PLOT: Well, there really isn't much to the plot. This story is about perception; the only real action happens near the end. The tale is, Jack pities Elizabeth because all she is doing is waiting around for a "heart attack," (i.e. someone to stab Will's heart and free her from her duty as his landlocked and faithful wife). He's frustrated with her for not seeing things the way he does: he is life - he has a pumping heart and a free life to live - but Will is death - he may be immortal but he is not alive nor warm to the touch. One day, Jack can't take it anymore so he sets off for Elizabeth's island, only to waltz in on she and Will's 10 year reunion. Devastated and feeling betrayed, he sets off to find and stab Will's heart...until he realizes that after all that time, it was he who was waiting for the "heart attack." Unable to break apart the family and realizing that after ten years he never gave Elizabeth reason to want him, he leaves. Shortly after, Elizabeth wanders along the beach by herself and sees his unmistakable footprints in the sand.

ARTSY STUFF: Everything is a red tone to symbolize blood - the heart, Jack's running blood as opposed to Will's still blood, life, etc. When Jack thinks of Will, however, it is blue and cold because Will is undead. There's also a brief moment of contrast between Will's surroundings as a cold, black ocean and Jack's surroundings as a vivacious and living habitat full of vegetation. Other artsy stuff includes the sequence where Jack goes off to find Elizabeth. The shots are purposely strange. His journey is completely unplanned and rash, so the montage reflects that as it randomly skips from one shot to the next in an uncomfortable manner.

Song is "The Piano Song" by The Format.
