YouTube limits file size uploading, so included herein are significant clips from the contentious Oct. 16, 2007 meeting. The full public meeting documentation video is available to SAU16 Area Public Libraries.
Also available is a compilation video of past meetings where VLACS discussions took place, whose minutes are being questioned as to their accuracy, and has been made available to each of the 33 Board members within the 7 SAU16 School Districts (several members obtained personal copies for their review).
Controversy and confusion surround the new on-line school being setup in Exeter, New Hampshire. In 2005, the Exeter Region Cooperative School District voted to permit the SAU16 administration to work on a virtual school's creation within their school district.
Questions surfaced in recent months when it was announced that the retiring superintendent had applied to the New Hampshire Board of Education for the on-line school, Virtual Learning Academy Charter School (VLACS), to be set-up as a separate non-profit entity (versus a Co-op entity, similar to the previously established GBeCS Charter School) under himself and other members of his SAU16 administrative staff. Neither meeting minutes, nor independent video of those meetings (provided courtesy of Minuteman Documentation), substantiate the claims of this full disclosure of its being separate from the school district, nor discussion of a change in law that necessitated the nature of its organization.
Adding to the controversy is the claim by several members of the ERCSD Board that they were aware of all the questionable criteria... obtained through private meetings with the superintendent where their "inquiries" were addressed.
A motion by members of the ERCSD School Board seeking outside council to scrutinize the questionable process used to arrive at the school's structure failed to gain a majority vote.
i fucking hate VLACS! it fucking sucks!
