Used a PS2 (SCPH-77001) with fast disc loading enabled.

The video and audio for the DVD recording starts glitching towards the end of the run, specifically at the end of part 7. Part 8, the last part, is from the VHS tape I was simultaneously recording to. (Yes, I recorded to both VHS and DVD at the same time in case the DVD recorder would somehow screw up, which happens to people.) I ran the AV cables from the PS2 to the VCR, another set of AV cables from the VCR to the DVD recorder and the VCR's RF out to the TV which I played on. Part 8 has significant overlap with part 7 to show that it's the same run.

I felt as though I'd "retired" from speedrunning but felt a little inspired to return to and complete this project for the free time I had available this summer (of 09). I began working on this scenario after LeonA back in 2005 but had wavering motivation due to a couple of reasons: the scenarios besides LeonA felt much less "important" for producing quality speedruns and I couldn't personally find any terribly clever discrete time-saving tricks for this scenario. I worked on and off through the years as interest in renewing this project came and went, tweaking aspects of the route such as enemy dodges and ammo pickups and adjusting stategies until the involved risk factor would both reasonably make the run difficult to beat and be conducive to finishing a satisfactory run.

It took a solid four weeks of playing for 2-3 hours a day to get a run as clean and presentable as this. The most overt error is a zombie grab at about 1/3 of the way into the run. The luck obtained in the run is generally good, the only truly unlucky event being that it took 6 shots instead of 5 to kill the miniboss.

The dodge in the beginning of the run with the basketball court zombies was borrowed from the knife-only run by SEGAGA. The dodge works about 1 in 4 or 5 times. Sometimes it works on the first try, other times it can take 6-8 tries. This dodge is helpful because it eliminates the intentional hit that I thought was required and conserves Claire's limited health.

In the bus, the number of combined shots for the crawling female zombie and the other zombie varies. It usually takes 4 or 5. A couple times it only took 3, but this is rare. 4 shots is nice but 5 is also acceptable.

Good strat for the 2 statues, and at 9:02 I had to rewind cause I didn't see what you did,too fast :P

And I was pretty sure there should be 2 guys at 0:29,but guess not...

    Anyway,I will enjoy this :)

  • Finally! <3

  • Amazing video! It's good to see more from you Trevor, one of the best speedrunners out there :)

I loved the zombie dodge at 1:37, its incredible :)

Also great technique at 8:21 as well :)

Only complaint I have is just of the JP version because of the easier zombie placement for some parts. Still great though :)

Can't wait to see the rest
