A lot of countries are run by "bad" dictators. The reason your "Gentle" leaders went into Iraq. Was not to make the world a better place.
It was a strategic move, nothing else. Hell in the beginning it was because of 9/11, then it was weapons of mass destruction. Finally the reason was to get rid of Saddam.
