I think it's interesting the response from the people who think its unfair that Hitchens wasn't there to defend himself. Hitchens didn't consult the church or it's teachings before writing his chapter on the LDS faith. This video is a response to what was written in his book something that Hitchens initiated. Dan Peterson did an excellent job addressing item by item the assertions of Hitchens about the church. He doesn't attack his character only his lack of sources in a purely academic way.

Baaahhhh!!!

@Dgoosh1000 He has indeed mentioned Trotsky as one of his heroes. On a radio program in the UK. Trotsky wrote on subjects as diverse as art, culture, literature as well as politics. Christopher Hitchens was a Marxist for many years,

@TheSkepticChristian Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:20-21As you can see, nothing in the Bible is open to interpretation. Have you even read the book?

I believe that Hitchens only ever expresses admiration of Karl Marx. A man duly deserving of respect for his writings, whether you believe in communism or not.
Never has he portrayed Trotsky or Lenin as his heroes and it is a falsity to suggest such a thing.

@ticklemypickles "Which God do you have in mind?" and again with that question. All Theist can agree that their is a superior intelligence/s outthere. People from different cultures and civilizations have figure that out. Is just that people have had different concepts and perspective of the same creator/s. The thing is, all Theist can agree that their is a purpose for the universe. And to get a more correct concept of GOD, thats why we need prophets.

@ticklemypickles "13 Billion years" sure why not? does time really matter in a universe that has always existed? and also PhD astrophysics Benard Haicth said that the universe has a number of key properties that can allow life to evolve. Just look it our wonderful violent universe, its like a jungle, violent, but life can appear everywhere, probably in every galaxy. Thanks to GOD. Isn't it a miricle that life has survive on earth for such a long time?
-
@ticklemypickles "world suitable for mankind with just a wave of his wand?" The Lord can do anything, nothing is impossible to him. He can control the laws of the universe. "didn't the Bible mention just such an instantaneous process?" no one can prove what the Bible really says, its open to interpretation.

@TheSkepticChristian said: "either M-theory or GOD"
Which God do you have in mind?
The same question has been put to Craig!
He goes to all that trouble trying to prove the existence of his Christian God then fails ultimately when he can't prove WHICH God it is he is trying to validate!"
The Ultimate Perpetual Fail...
-
@TheSkepticChristian Craig's fine-tuning argument presupposes his 'Supernatural Creator' went to some trouble to create a Universe specifically tailored to support life.
This Divine method left HIM waiting 13 billion years to achieve his goal!
Any divine Magician worthy of the name would surely have been able to create a world suitable for mankind with just a wave of his wand?
But didn't the Bible mention just such an instantaneous process?
"Let there be light" & HEY PRESTO "there was light" etc
What a bunch of cowards. I would have at least brought Mr. Hitchens on to defend himself, in a debate type forum. This is nothing more than a witch hunt.
