  • Wow that's bad knock... My only suggestion is to go to benzworld(DOT)org/forums and go to the w126 section... Holy shit you really need to get that checked out. My car knocks like a mother as well, but not anything like this one... I've also got more or less the same amount of smoke out the back to yours.

  • @benzlover55 I did have it checked out...... long story short, it would need a total rebuild. Had the top half off and aside from a bad exhaust valve on #5, I noticed it's starting to develop a little piston slap on #3, 4, and 6. The turbo impeller was very loose, possibly the result of it smacking the frame when the motor mount let go, among several other problems I noticed while tearing the engine down. I've only put about 25k miles on the car..such a shame it only lasted 257k miles. :(

  • @rocco40 Christ... i just hope that mine @ 151k won't have that many problems...

  • @benzlover55 It all depends on how you take care of it. When I bought that car, it had around 235k on it. It already had a compression problem on #5 when I bought it, which cleared up after about 30 seconds after the cold start. Obviously a problem like that will only get worse...lol There were a couple of other minor problems, but I got my money's worth.... I bought it for $1200, and sold it for $800. I'm gonna get another one..... that is in better mechanical shape of course,... :)

  • @rocco40 I wish it were that easy for me, but mine has a lot of sentimental value, and I couldn't just sell it. I know, I sound mental right? But it's the truth *shrugs*
