Kukup is a small town and fishing village situated at the Southern tip of Johor. Visitor may go to Kukup via Pontian. Kukup Island is located a stone throw away from Kukup town, accessible by ferry. Kukup is the largest uninhabited mangroves in the world and has been granted a status of RAMSAR site in 2003. Various flora and fauna flourish on the island. Among the fauna are mudskipper, monster lizard, fiddler crab, mudskipper etc. The Kukup Island now is run by Pulau Kukup Johor National Park. In between Kukup town and Kukup Island, one can see a lot of culture fish farms known as "kelong".
Visitors can buy dried fish and other marine based food products and condiments like belacan, cencaluk from the shops.
Kukup Jetty is an immigration checkpoint for visitors to and fro from Tanjung Balai, Karimun Island, Indonesia.
Singaporeans like to come to Kukup to enjoy the seafoods and to spend the holidays.
