This is a film I made with Ryan Carmichael and Alex Sargent for an 11th grade Honors English class. We recorded the dialog before filming and played it back on set. Unfortunately Alex wasn't available to record, so I did the voices for Macduff and Macbeth. The special effects were done in FInal Cut Pro 5 and Motion 2. What with conceptualizing, filming, editing, and special effects, I spent upwards of thirty hours on this project.

  • @dragonrider520 well, don't make the same mistake I did. On the line "whiles I see lives, " that means "while things that I see are living." so the word "lives" rhymes with "shivs," not with "hives." I think.

  • 1:46, those bikers just disappears in the background?

  • @DragonRider520 haha yeah, they drove past and I didn't notice until later. It was easy to mask them on either side of the trees, but behind my head would have been too time-consuming so I left it in. Just one more reason why this project was completely ridiculous :)

  • what program was used for the head cutting..final cut pro or motion 2

  • I used Motion. It was really the wrong tool for the job, but at the time I didn't know Shake, which is what I would use now. That head cutting shot took me about seven hours. It was a three-pass shot: the blank background, Alex with the sword, and me falling down. The problem with Motion is that, for the control points on arbitrary Bezier shapes, you can't control their movement on a per-channel level, so it was maddeningly tedious to keyframe it.
