***Update 12/3/10*** Ron Santo passed away lastnight, he was a great, passionate person and a Cub legend. Also, I don't care what anyone says, he's a Hall of Famer. Rest In Peace Ron. The field of dreams has a pretty damn good third baseman now.

The famous 1998 Brant Brown call. The Chicago Cubs were beating the
Milwaukee Brewers 7-0 entering the seventh inning before Milwaukee cut the Cubs' lead to 7-5. With the score still 7-5 going into the bottom of the ninth inning, Milwaukee loaded the bases. Cubs pitcher Rod Beck threw his next pitch and the Brewers' batter hit a fly ball to left that Cubs' left fielder Brant Brown would drop, costing the Cubs the game. Here's how color analyst Ron Santo reacted on the radio broadcast during the play...hahaha

  • Ron Santo is the gold standard of what a Chicago athlete should be. Even if he'd have played for the White Sox, I'd have loved him.

  • @italianstalion33 he did play for the White Sox

  • @rick100183 lol only for a year though

  • @MRACDCGUY So? He still played for them...

  • Yankees fan here...but I listened to the Cubs on MLB audio all the time to hear Ron Santo. He was great. My sympathies to all of the Cubs fans out there and to Mr. Santo's family. RIP.

  • I'm a Brewers fan, but was also a big fan of Ron Santo. I spent a lot of summer afternoons listening to he & Pat on WGN. Shame on the Hall of Fame for not inducting him years ago. RIP Ron.

  • Ron was a direct relative of mine from seattle, its amazing to see all the love and respect fans from all over the league have for him. He always had the numbers to get into the hall, and its a bittersweet moment now that he's in.

  • @ufcfan998 no disrespct intended

  • @bobcows yea sadly a year to late after he fucking dead

  • Ronnie's finally in the HOF!!!

  • lol, Ron did turn into the hulk briefly when Brent Brown dropped that ball.

  • I don't care what people say about his announcing, what a great guy Ron Santo was.

We miss ya, buddy! Go Cubbies!

  • @italianstalion33 And they say cub fans don't know anything about baseball, why would that be?

  • Santo was a good player part of a good team in the late 60s, early 70s, Banks, Billy Wiliams, Beckert, Huntley, Hickman, and Jenkins...Kessinger was pretty good too..
