And about Space Hunter...

Guy Foster presents his first mini-game for the Colecovision written entirely in Assembly called Space Hunter featuring a demonstration of vertical scrolling using software techniques.

In this game, you are a heroic space fighter who unfortunately stumbled in an unfriendly area of space. You are being attacked and need to defend yourself quickly. The game starts off slowly, but don't be fooled, using you skills and wit you have to destroy the oncoming enemies which seem to come from all directions at an increasingly faster pace. What lies after the 13 waves of enemies? Only you can find out!

Music by Frank Emanuelle
Graphics by Sandra Tirone

*UPDATE* : first batch of cartridges available during the 20th ADAMcon, Coleco Adam Canada-US annual convention, saturday, june 21, 2008.

  • So many games for ColecoVision made in C.

    D8

I didn't even know there was C compilers for it 8D, so I started programming Z80-ASM for the Sega Master System instead :3 , still like Coleco though... or wait ... Doesn't coleco use a Zilog Z80 aswell?

Anyway , awesome music in Space Hunter.

  • ColecoVision Specs : cpu Z80a, ram 1KB (7000-73FF), rom 32KB game (8000-FFFF), rom 8KB bios (0000-1FFF), and many other cool things like sound support (3 tone channels + noise).
