@djackmanson I am sure the sound track was made into the film in the 80s. 1950s china did not had such audio quality.

Is the Chinese (Mandarin?) commentary from the time the film was made?, or was it done more recently?

Yes. It's Mandarin. The commentary was added some time later. Not sure when, though.
