@level2789 YES The C&O was the main way to get goods into the city, there were no trucks or trains at the time, although a few years after completion, the B&O opened the "Metropolitain Line" which soon over shadowed the demise of the c&o canal. On the north side of the key bridge you can see what is left of the c&o aquaduct that went over to Virginia. I have another vid or possibly this one that shows this.

Cool video. I live in DC and have riden the C&O many times and I never knew that old stone house downtown was a canal lock house.
