PLOT: A beast. Not quite wolf or bear, gorilla or dog but a horrible new creature who walks upright—a creature with fangs and claws and hair springing from every pore. I am a monster. You think I'm talking fairy tales? No way. The place is New York City. The time is now. It's no deformity, no disease. And I'll stay this way forever—ruined—unless I can break the spell.
Yes, the spell, the one the witch in my English class cast on me. Why did she turn me into a beast who hides by day and prowls by night? I'll tell you. I'll tell you how I used to be Kyle Kingsbury, the guy you wished you were, with money, perfect looks, and the perfect life. And then, I'll tell you how I became perfectly . . . beastly.

THE REVIEW //

The book starts off with the online conversation with other creatures, besides the Beast, like the Little Mermaid (SilentMaid). In my opinion I thought the online im-ing was pointless. It didn't affect the plot line whatsoever, accept at one small point. I also didn't like how when it reached a new section/part in the book it would restart at chapter 1 and keep going and how it was slow at the beginning. It took a long time for Lindy to really get into the story. Another thing I didn't like was that it was really cliche at some parts, like Kyle being the popular, cool, rich, obnoxious boy at school and Lindy being the quiet, down to earth, girl with her own troubles and the whole damsel in distress thing BUT I'm not really complaining about that a lot cause I'm a sucker for those kinds of stories :)

Other than those few negative points, the book was overall a pretty good book. I love how it portrays the classic Disney story, Beauty and the Beast. I like how Alex Flinn gave it a modern twist in New York City. The transformation of Kyle really helps him discover what he's been ignoring, which is true beauty. The emotions were really well written as Flinn wrote about Kyle's thoughts and feelings. It really is a touching story and I'm so excited to see it on the big screen, except that it got moved to March of next year :(

This book will touch your heart and make it melt as Kyle tries to get the kiss, get the girl and stay true to his new self. Be sure to read it before you see it! :)

WARNING: Reading it will get you hooked and once your done you will be itching to see the movie.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PS: Obviously CBS films/writers has tweeked some of what happens in the movie, like changing the Beast's appearance and changing how Kyle and Lindy meet for the first time. But I think it's good for a little change and I personally like how they visioned the Beast, instead of the hairy one.
